A Day Well Spent With Mother Nature

12th May 2019 was observed and celebrated as International Mother’s Day where the kids of entire world were busy celebrating it with their respective mothers (biological ones). However we at Urjaa Foundation celebrated this day with a difference. Wondering how? Well, the answer is that we in our small way celebrated it with and for Mother Nature and tried to serve her on this auspicious day.

Abiding by our GO Green mission we successfully conducted our 23rd “My Plastic Waste is My Responsibility” campaign on Mother’s Day in Central suburbs of Dombivili & Thane.

We got a good response from the residents of Dombivili & Thane. We collected around about 2.27 tons of plastic waste from more then 500  households in almost less than 2 hours’ time i.e from 10.00 AM- 11.30 AM. But this campaign does not just end on plastic waste collection as post that we send all the plastic collected to Jejuri plant of Rudra Environmental Solutions (India) Ltd where they recycle and convert it into polyfuel in an eco-friendly manner. This polyfuel is later used for agriculture purpose. And most importantly during this recycling process the plastic is completely zeroed and not reproduced. Till date 53 tons of plastic Waste has been collected and sent for recycling.

So we would once again like to thank all the citizens of Dombivili & Thane along with our volunteers for helping us deliver yet another successful, “My Plastic Waste is My Responsibility” campaign and do our bit for protecting Mother Earth and Nature from the monster called “Plastic”.

We would like to appeal to the citizens to follow 4R’s – Reduce, Reuse, recycle & refuse plastic.
Our next campaign is on 30th June 2019 in Dombivili and Thane. For further interesting updates about Urjaa foundation follow us on facebook.
